“For parents,” an INSPIRE and IIY site lead shared, “even though spring break is here, that doesn’t mean work stops for them, so the challenge of having a place for their children to go becomes a big issue…That is where our camp comes in, to alleviate those issues at no cost to the parent.”
INSPIRE’s Spring Break Camp is a vital support system for working parents, offering a trusted place for their children while school is out. But it goes beyond childcare. “For students, the break becomes a chance for them to continue having a place where they can have fun,” the site lead explained. “But it is also holistic and allows them to practice the Social Emotional Learning and creativity lessons they’re already learning in IIY aftercare.”
The students had a blast with group and individual activities, art projects, games, and hands-on experiences. The final day brought something special: a movie event where parents were invited to join. Families gathered to relax, laugh, and enjoy the simple joy of sitting side by side with their children.
While the camp meets a real need for childcare, its impact reaches further. It creates space for connection, joy, and shared experiences. As the INSPIRE site lead put it, “The impact of the camp aims to bring families closer not only to us, but more importantly, to themselves.”
