Sharing Place Food Pantry Coordinator

Lutheran Child & Family Services is searching for a exempt full-time Sharing Place Coordinator. The Sharing Place Coordinator is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of The Sharing Place Food Pantry located in the MSD of Lawrence Township Education and Community Center. The majority of the Sharing Place labor force is made up of volunteers.

Primary Functions:

1)               Facilitate the day-to-day operations of Sharing Place and develop a plan for effective daily operational flow

2)               Supervise, train, provide guidance & direction to program staff, interns & volunteers

3)               Control inventory to maintain appropriate stock while staying within established budget

4)               Ensure all donations are properly recorded, food donations are weighed, and documentation is provided to the main office

5)               Maintain Sharing Place statistics and complete reporting as required using Gleaner’s Food Bank Manager, Agency Express & DAP systems, as well as submitting required documentation for all grants and funders, including but not limited to the United Way of Central Indiana.

6)               Maintain various community relationships and actively promote The Sharing Place

7)               Implement strategic and long-term goals for the Sharing Place

8)               Communicate clearly with the main office & work within budget

9)               Ensure Sharing Place vehicle is safe, stays clean and is well-maintained

10)            Other duties as assigned

 

Skills and Experience:

·        HS Diploma or Equivalency required

·        Retail and/or grocery experience preferred

·        People skills and ability to relate well to clients, donors, volunteers, and referral sources

·        Organizational and multi-tasking skills along with the ability to effectively manage and coordinate both people and information

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

·        Communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail

·        Understanding of volunteering and volunteer management

·        Ability to recognize and effectively respond to the needs of a diverse faith community, as well as cultural differences of volunteers, staff and clients

·        Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

 

Must possess the following characteristics:

·        Ability to forge mutually respectful partnership with persons and families served to help clients gain skills and confidence

·        Ability to work in a team setting

·        Able to maintain appropriate boundaries and set limits in working with clients & volunteers

·        Must be able to recognize and effectively respond to cultural differences of clients

 

Working Environment:

·        Must be able to lift 50 pounds

·        Able to work hours needed to accomplish assigned tasks, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays
