Human Resources Assistant

Lutheran Child & Family Services is searching for a part-time, entry level Human Resource Assistant. As a newly created position, the Human Resource Assistant will be responsible for coordinating the compliance of employee related files and documents for licensing and government requirements. This position will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations for the organizations human resource functions.

Primary Functions:

1) Validates employee prospects & contractors by conducting all hiring requirements

2) Onboards new employees & contractors

3) Creates and maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation for employees and contractors

4) Tracks, maintains, and creates opportunities for training hours

5) Assists with various other administrative tasks

6) Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to work with diversified teams and personnel

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

• Proven organizational abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and other computer applications

Education and Experience:

• HS Diploma required

• Associates degree preferred

• Prior office experience preferred

• Valid Indiana Driver’s License

Must possess the following characteristics:

• Maintains integrity, confidentiality, and high ethical standards at all times

• Ability to work in a team setting

• Able to maintain appropriate boundaries and set limits in working with employees and contractors

• Must be able to recognize and effectively respond to cultural differences of employees and contractors

Working Environment:

• Part-time, hourly position, not to exceed 24 hours per week

• Must be able to work flexible hours with minimal supervision

• Hybrid – some requirements to work on site

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
