All
caregivers need support with the often difficult task of raising
and nurturing their children. Unfortunately, when problems develop
that are beyond their control, parents or caregivers may be unaware
of available resources or assume no one is interested in helping.
As their frustration escalates, incidents of child abuse are likely
to occur.
In
an effort to prevent the possibility of child abuse, LCFS offers
help to these families with "Tool Kit for Parents- Parent Education
Classes ", a series of parenting education classes conducted
in schools, churches, and community centers by trained instructors.
The program can be tailored to meet a group's individual needs or
goals as well as those of parents who are court-ordered to attend
classes as part of custody or divorce cases. Topics include, but
are not limited to, child development, anger and stress management,
home safety, and discipline techniques. Seminars on specific topics
are also available.
