program furnishes in-home counseling
and case management services to families at risk of having a child
removed from the home. Clinicians address families' problems where
they occur
- in the house - and actively enlist family members as partners
in the problem-solving process. Services include coordinating community
services (financial and/or material assistance, transportation,
school issues) and clinical services (family and individual therapy,
case management).
Services
are provided in collaboration with Community Health Network of Indianapolis
and Gallahue
Mental Health Services. As a result, Medicaid-eligible clients
are accepted. Referral sources include Indianapolis
Public Schools, the DAWN
Project, Marion
County Office of Family & Children, and related social services
providers.
When a family is
referred to the Family Preservation program, direct contact is made within 24
hours. Clinicians use counseling techniques based on the "Homebuilders' Model"
and provide up to 15 hours of direct contact per week to each family.
