"The kids will be able to take
pride in where they live, even
though it may not be home.
There will be a much safer
setup which will allow staff
to better take care of the
children"

"...providing programs of compassionate care and counsel"
|
Since 1883, the organization that is now Lutheran Child & Family Services
of Indiana/Kentucky has offered programs that help children and families.
Throughout its long history of service, Lutheran Child & Family Services
has constantly addressed urgent challenges facing our community.
Lutherwood's last major facilities were added in the early 1990's:
a secure-care 28-bed dormitory, gymnasium, classrooms, kitchen and
dining hall. These buildings are brick and mortar, but for our precious
clients they represent hope, Christian love and life itself.

Problems as big as those that face children and their families today - affecting all sectors of our community - call for focused collaboration among many parties. Lutheran Child & Family Services teams with government, social service agencies, educators and other organizations to accomplish its mission.
Among those who count on Lutheran Child & Family Services to be there, ready to help, are:
- Referring agencies who send youth for care and treatment at Lutherwood,
such as local offices of Families and Children, juvenile courts, probation
departments, and the Department of Corrections
- Indianapolis Public Schools, which operates a school on the Lutheran Child & Family Services campus
- Social service agencies working with youth and families, such as Gallahue
Mental Health Services, Reach For Youth and the DAWN Project
Like a supportive family, this network relies on each partner's ability
and readiness to do its part on behalf of youth, families and the community.
Lutheran Child & Family Services takes seriously its commitment to provide
the services and facilities that are needed now - and in the future.
